Our Traffic Engineering Projects

Here's a snapshot of some of our most iconic traffic engineering projects across Tasmania.

Each project showcases Howarth Fisher's practical, forward thinking solutions to complex transport challenges.

Howarth Fisher developed a comprehensive access strategy, including shuttle integration, parking reconfiguration, and peak period traffic management to support sustainable tourism

Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre

Seasonal Congestion and limited parking were impacting visitor experience and park operations

Wilkinson's Point

Howarth Fisher delivered traffic engineering analysis, signal optimisation scenarios, and a Sustainable Transport Plan. Solutions included modelling lead/lag phases, increasing turn lane capacities, and planning new northbound through lanes to support increased vehicle movements and pedestrian safety.

Anticipated congestion and intersection inefficiencies from future developments including the My State Bank Arena

Howarth Fisher managed the complete traffic design for pick-up and drop-off areas, signage planning, and pedestrian access. We developed clear traffic flow strategies, installed directional and regulatory signage, and optimized access for emergency, patient, and public transport movements around the hospital.

Royal Hobart

Hospital

High traffic volumes, limited space, and unclear wayfinding around critical hospital access points caused safety and operational concerns.

Mona Museum

Howarth Fisher provided end to end transport advice, including ferry and shuttle access, cycle links, taxi/UBER coordination, parking layouts and SIDRA analysis, helping futureproof a $500M+ precinct that sees over half it's visitors without a car.

High visitor numbers and complex transport demands at one of Tasmania's busiest destinations.

Howarth Fisher designed the entire car park layout and pavement structure from the ground up. We made sure to deliver safe circulation, efficient bay usage, and durable pavement design tailored to commercial traffic demands.

Kingston Shopping Plaza

The site required a complete redesign to improve traffic flow, access, and parking efficiency.

Margate Shopping Centre

Howarth Fisher designed the full car park layout for the entire site. The car park ensures parking efficiency while optimizing traffic flow, and access to support both current retail activity and proposed Woolworths expansion.

A growing retail hub with multiple specialty shops and a major Woolworths development required a fit for purpose parking solution
